Care Assistant – Nights

WorkwithYorkshire has a fantastic opportunity for a Care Assistant for nights to join their client based on the outskirts of York.

This is a permanent position, working from 24 – 36hrs. Hours are 7pm to 7am.  A competitive salary is on offer with flexibility on days.  Ideally to start as soon as possible.

Duties:

  • To look after the physical, emotional, cultural and social needs of the residents, using a person-centred approach.
  • Provide a high standard of care in the home at night and undertake certain domestic duties, which can only be performed during night hours.
  • Provide a safe and caring environment that promotes sleep, and underpins the residents’ physical, emotional and psychological well-being.
  • Offer a high standard of care overnight, including hygiene, continence, mobility, dressing and general care.
  • Give input into the care and support plans of residents by regularly feeding back to senior staff with any concerns.
  • Answer emergency call bells or calls from residents immediately and seek further assistance if necessary.

Requirements:

  • Understanding of the needs of older and vulnerable adults
  • Experience providing personal care
  • Confident to work on own initiative, without supervision
  • Experienced at handling challenging behaviour
  • Adaptability to rapidly changing situations and behaviour patterns
  • Knowledge of safe Moving and Handling, basic First Aid, Health and Safety and Risk Assessment procedures.
  • Knowledge of the social care sector and its procedures.

We will require successful applicants to undertake an Enhanced Criminal Records check via DBS.
